Get ready to fall in love with POETIC JUSTICE: Learning to Write Poetry Through the Black Experience. This project is especially meaningful because it gave me the opportunity to collaborate with my mom. As former educators, we’re both excited to offer a space for young adults—and seasoned learners—to create while exploring important moments in Black history, from the distant past to more recent events. 

This is more than just a book—it is an opportunity, an open space for creators and learners to explore forms of poetry, poetic devices, and moments in Black history. As you engage with its contents, we encourage you to remember that the information and sources included here are not exhaustive. Rather, they are meant to serve as a foundation. However, we want to encourage all to continue on the path of discovery. and as prompts for your own writing and discovery.
